It’s a wrap! We’ve just welcomed the last gro

It’s a wrap! We’ve just welcomed the last group of 2024 for a chilled wintertime stay. It’s been great to meet and get to know so many remarkable young people this year. Each and every one of you has brought something unique and special to the barn. Thank you for taking a chance on Flynne’s Barn and embracing new challenges.The bonds of friendship formed here are strong and, we know, flourish well beyond a Flynne’s Barn Stay. We have also been inspired to work with so many wonderful partnership staff who provide unwavering support to the young cancer community. Our volunteers have been extraordinary this year too. Thank you.l It’s great that visitors want to stay connected and be part of the Flynne’s Barn community. Finally a shout out to all the professionals who have laid on some incredible workshops and adventures this year. It’s the range of experiences we offer at Flynne’s Barn which means there’s something for everyone!

Our recent Flynne’s Barn group enjoyed an indoor

Our recent Flynne’s Barn group enjoyed an indoor climbing session with Wes and Duane from @adventurehunteroutdoors A great, inclusive session, tailored to the group and encouraging everyone to try new challenges. A stop off at Castlerigg Stone Circle rounded off the adventure nicely. The views across to St John’s in the Vale were pretty spectacular too!

Creative activities like this give everyone a chance to slow the pace, take some time and the chats happen naturally. It’s a time to reset. Last night’s canoe expedition: setting out acros

Last night’s canoe expedition: setting out across the lake to Lord’s Island, campfire chats and songs (and marshmallows of course!). Then an atmospheric paddle back to shore as the sky grew dark. Such a bonding time! Thanks for a cool adventure @mountainmemories.info We loved it!

“My appreciation for this community, and understanding its association with need and gratitude were supported by my trip to Flynne’s Barn - a charity dedicated to the unmet needs of young lives impacted by cancer. Community had become a comfortless word, for my cancer saw to its quick dissolution. But through my interactions with the community, I came to comprehend the importance it held in navigating my cancer experience and the many challenges I would face. The satisfaction of feeling heard, seen and supported are the outcomes of this hued patchwork.”

Pika stayed at Flynne’s Barn in August. Her stay has had a lasting impact and she valued sharing time with others, having fun and finding her musical voice again after treatment.

During the night a hedgehog got tangled up in our

During the night a hedgehog got tangled up in our badminton net which had blown over in the winds. We managed to warm him up and after some gentle coaxing cut the netting off. Offered some food. Set him back out near the spot where we found him and he merrily trundled off into the protected undergrowth. Lesson learnt: always pack away the badminton net! 🦔🦔🦔 #hedgehog #hedgehogrescue

Last night our guests from TCT Sheffield had an amazing night time canoe adventure out on Derwentwater. Atmospheric, moody skies and calm waters made it a magical experience rounded off with a warming campfire on an island.
Thanks Justin @mountainmemories.info for a wonderful experience. And back to the barn for a warming, hearty meal thanks to David @oakcottagechef A great bunch of young people embracing all that the mountains have to offer🛶🛶🛶
