The Hub

In the farmhouse, we have created a ‘hub’ room where young visitors can relax, make music and join in with creative projects.

During the renovations our builders uncovered a beautiful old slate lintel. We’ve installed a woodburner to create a a focal point in the room so we’re all set up for games, movie nights, music and relaxing. The Meitheal Cheoil musicians have raised money which will be used to equip the room with musical instruments and hopefully one day we will install some recording facilities.

Thanks to the much-appreciated help from our friends Debs, Billy and John, we’ve rewired, plastered, painted, tiled and now finished the Dairy which is the last room in the farmhouse. Together the Hub and Dairy rooms will make up an area that will be used by our charity guests.

Visitors can explore a range of art and craft activities in the Dairy. We’re well stocked up with paints, clay and crafting materials. You can also prepare drinks and snacks in here.

The Dairy opens out into our back garden and from there to the camping field. Out here guests can enjoy the peace of the valley. At times we’ll pitch our event tipi for musical gatherings, bushcrafting and general camp fire fun.

I grew up holidaying in the Lake District and it has always been a very special place to visit. I can’t think of a more beautiful setting to spend a few days trying out new activities and making friends. Flynne’s Barn will provide an amazing chance to connect with other young people with cancer in relaxed and peaceful surroundings.
